Default The Road: Where Is It?

I thought The Road was supposed to be released this weekend - November 27. It isn't playing at any multiplex theater in my area. Was it pushed back again? Did it come out earlier and I missed it? Is just out now in limited release?

Okay, I'm in Tennesssee, the Knoxville area. I just saw a post on another board by a guy who lives in Dallas and can't find it in a theater near him and says he has to make an hour's drive to see it. What's going on?

I think it is "limited release" so it may not come to your town or maybe at a later date. Do you have any of those theaters that play artsy/foreign films? We have one where I live and they play most of the limited release movies.

I just saw previews for it and it looks great! I'm also currently reading the book. The book so far is really quite good.

There are no theaters within 40 miles of where I live showing this movie. I don't live in the middle of nowhere, either, I live in a town adjacent to Knoxville. If a guy from Dallas has to drive an hour to see it, something is seriously wrong.

Looks like the closest place it's playing to me is Washington DC. I hope it expands.

Does anyone why it's having a limited release? I thought it was supposed to be one of the big films of the year, the critics are certainly hyping it up.

I know it got pushed back for some last minute editing (for those who read the book, I'm sure you can guess which scene was taken out). My guess is the studio is now shaken up a bit and doesn't want to wide release it and not see ticket sales. Every time a film gets pushed back support for it goes down, and this has been pushed back a good 3 times now. It's all business mumbo-jumbo, and it sucks. I wanted to see this film a year ago. I'm tired of waiting!!

TRy finding it on line for free, thats how i watch all new movies I want to see. Being disabled it has been awsome. No downloads and no fees! the ones i try the most are 10starmovies.com letmewatchthis.com movie25.com the only link i recomend you do not use to watch any of the movies when it gives you a choice is megavideo.com they will let you get into for like 45 min or a bit more than stop it. a way to get you to pay. the others are free! Happy viewing

I am not sure why it is limited release. Maybe the nature of the film? Limited release films (like this one and "Precious") seem to be more and more common lately. They are playing it in my town though, San Antonio, TX which I found odd it was mentioned that its not playing in Dallas.

Here's something I found on Yahoo, not sure how accurate. Why do some movies get released as limited release movies? - Yahoo! Answers

And this about why "The Road" is limited release
