we just saw it today and enjoyed it. the chemistry between the two was excellent. the set up for movie number 2 is definitely in place. I would agree that, at times, the dialogue was hard to follow.
Didn't really think the whole "Sherlock Holmes - action hero" thing worked at all.
I've been rereading actual Sherlock Holmes stories, and yeah, the Sherlock Holmes action hero thing isn't true to the character. That said, the movie itself was enjoyable, and Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. were a lot of fun together.
Went to see it last night, all I can say is it was a complete waste of time. When it was over, I had fallen asleep at least twice, but wished I had slept the entire time because I would not have missed anything. The acting was pretty decent, but the storyline was boring and the movie just seemed to drag on and on. The special effects were overdone as they are in most action flicks these days, such as the scene where Watson trips some explosives, and for the next 5 minutes explosions are going off is slow motion.
I guess I'm not as "high brow" as you intellectual folk!
I just saw the movie (It's March)! I'm late.....
BUT I LOVED IT! It's not Basil Rathbone. But it's not suppose to be! But Downey played this character to the hilt! His powers of observation were amazing ....that is so true to the Holmes character.
Too me it makes sense that Holmes has studied many disciplines from around the world....even some that are physical. The way he even played in mind what he was going to do to his opponent and how much damage it would inflict, was just genius.
It liked the villain in this movie and even how he was exposed. Also how Prof. Moriarty is introduced as his foil to be.
Sorry guys.....this movie was 8 out of 10!!
