It is strange, but I bought into the love story and characters of Titanic hook line and sinker, but the story and characters of Avatar just bored and annoyed.

I'm afraid I am utterly shameless about whatever my choices may be ! If I like a movie I will quite happily shout it from the roof-top and could not care less what other people might think ! ; ) Life's too short to be embarassed about "guilty pleasures".

"Legally Blonde" and "In Her Shoes" are two that come to mind.

"Lake Placid" and "Starship Troopers" are also among my favorites.

"Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" was a classic.

"Last Night" was this dreadful shamelessly-Canadian apocalypse picture that mesmerized me. It actually got good ratings at IMDB, and I suspect it is because we were all seeing Sandra Oh for the first time (1998) and falling in love with her.

The Matrix

As a 50-something woman who only saw the movie because of this thing I have for Keanu Reeves I didn't exactly hit their target audience.

I even named my cat Neo.

I loved Eragon. It got mixed reviews at best, but I thought it was great. I'm really not embarrassed, but I was made to feel like I should have been.

I'm rarely embarrassed to admit I like films deemed bad. Although I think there might be some films I'd be embarrassed to admit I like because they're "not like me." (Overly macho, amoral, crass, or whatever)

I can't think of good examples of that, but here's a few that may come come close.

I liked the 1992 movie "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" but did not like the TV series. The movie is stupid and I think it's stupid, but for some reason it struck me right.

Also there's "She-Devil" with Roseanne Barr. Much of it is a tad gross, but I remember liking it.

The first "Problem Child" movie, but I imagine I would not like it now.

"Jeffrey", gay romantic comedy. Although it's more that I liked parts of it while finding other parts deeply annoying.
