I didn't catch the marathon, but I have all the movies on DVD.
I love the original trilogy. STAR WARS is one of the best films ever made. Empire is the best sequel of all time. Return of the Jedi has some weak moments, but the scenes between Vader and Luke are some of the best in the series.
I like the prequels, though I'll admit they don't hold a candle to the originals. I actually like Episode I quite a lot, due mostly to Liam Neeson, who is the perfect Jedi. Clones was pretty forgettable throughout, except for the Obi-Wan scenes on Kamino, which were great. Sith was ok. Better than Ep. II but not as good as I.
I really like all of them and the 6 episodes all together make a great Saga.I think Episode 3,4, and 6 are the three best followed by 5,1,and 2 would probably be the least for me.
i didnt get to watch a lot of it... I wish i did but then again i own most of them. Anyways whenever its on spike i always try to watch it... I love star wars
The Phantom Menace is my favorite of the prequels, and truthfully my favorite of the series. I like the pod race. Sebulba and Qui-Gonn are great characters. The fight scenes are great especially Obi-Wan/Qui Gonn vs Darth Maul. Darth Maul is what makes the movie. His appearance is just as striking as Vader's. He really was a worthy successor to Vader as opposed to that geezer Dooku. If Maul could have been allowed to be the villain across all three the prequels would be regarded a lot more highly than they are I think. I prefer to think of Jango Fett as the villain of the second movie since he was in the best fight scenes, and Dooku was so lame. Grievous could have been passable if he'd've had time to develop himself, but really ROTS had so many problems it couldn't really overcome. The second one was mostly okay except for the romance (Anakin's a freaky stalker at the beginning but within a day or two Padme's in love with him), and Dooku just hampered the whole thing once he showed up.
My favorite is Episode 3. Then probably 4, 6, 2, 5, and 1. Darth Maul seemed out of place. There was no character development on him at all, they just kind of threw him out there and said "This is your bad guy" and left it at that (of course Dooku and Grievous weren't much better). I think if they had kept him around maybe as the villain, it would have taken away from the fact that the whole story (all 6) are about Darth Vader. Not Darth Maul, Palpatine, Han Solo, or Luke Skywalker. I think they could have kept him around into Episode 2, then had a clearer transition to either Dooku or General Grievous.
