The Blind Side is just plain awful. Hollywood at its worst.

I've seen A Serious Man, District 9, Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, The Hurt Locker, Up in the Air and Inglourious Basterds. The first four are all excellent movies, the latter two are good ones.

I'm gonna watch An Education tomorrow, Avatar (3D) on Monday. I'm not a fan of animated movies but I will make an exception with Up.

The best movie nominated this year, though in the category for best foreign-language movie, is the Austrian/German drama; Das weisse Band - Eine deutsche Kindergeschichte (The White Ribbon).

Whether it's good or not they had ten slots and part of the purpose of having ten slots was to include movies that will get viewer interest. Blind Side had a great many viewers and its critical reviews were respectable if unspectacular.

I was also suprised by the BLIND SIDE nod, if it was a tv movie it should get an Emmy, but it's far from Oscar caliber.

Also suprised by INGLOROUS BASTARDS, I liked it but it was not a cohesive, well made movie, not Tarantino at his best at all. The German officer does deserve a BSA nom for sure, though. JMO
