Ha! Ha! Maybe you should send that story line in for consideration. Do the gerbils have any special powers or do they just eat thread? Furry little superheros, Ha! Ha! I love it. You are too funny.

I know what you mean about the Belgariad series, it seemed like it would never end. I finished reading it though. I have the Mallorean series but could never bring myself to start reading it.
