Guillermo del Toro drops out of directing 'The Hobbit' - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/31/guillermo.del.toro.drops.out.ew/index.html - broken link)

now I'm aggravated and at the point where I'm not even sure I want the movie to happen any more. sure Jackson and del Toro are still active behind the scenes w/ the script and producing, but now there's an issue of finding a competent director and MGM getting it's act together. and I don't see the latter happening any time soon. as much as I want this movie to happen, Id rather it get scrapped and redone w/ a better, more stable studio than see MGM screw the pooch on this story

Good for him, the story is terrible. Not even a shadow of LOTR.
