Got to Be There is the solo debut album by Michael Jackson, released by Motown Records on January 24, 1972. It includes the song of the same name, which was released in the October 7, 1971 as Jackson's debut solo single. It would go on to sell over 5.2 million copies worldwide.
Jackson went on to be recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by Guinness World Records. His contribution to music, dance, and fashion, along with a much-publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5, then the Jacksons in 1964, and began his solo career in 1971.
Prior to the release of Billie Jean by Jackson in the 80's, MTV never allowed videos or songs to be aired by black artists. Jackson broke that barrier.
Nat Cole, I have literal chills, as I listen to this poignant, slower live version of his monumental hit.. the guy had a voice for the ages, but he was also a great jazz piano player.. I love Nat King Cole.
