I know there is a World Music thread, but thought it may be nice to have one dedicated to the African continent. I'm a huge fan of African music, pity it doesn't get much exposure.

I like a fair amount of African music, but I think I've posted much of what I like on other threads. Still maybe I'll post something.

Here's varying Ethiopian musicians, which is interesting of me to choose as I own no Ethiopian music and have listened to little of it. Still I find it a fascinating country and some of what I found was kind of pretty.

This song was used in the movie Unfaithful but is not on the soudtrack

Ai Du Lyrics in English:
Trust and faith in your fellow man has no equal.
If you have experienced trust you will know its strength.
You must know yourself before you know others

The African Swim album they have for free on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim website is pretty cool..
African artists doing R+B/rap, much more interesting than what we have here.

Great posts. Love Liyana, I'm looking forward to watching the documentary "Music By Prudence" featuring Liyana.

Those who listen to Public Radio International's "The World" news program will recognize the song "Diaraby" by Ali Farka Touré that they use as the theme to their Geo Quiz segment.
