"Bullet the Blue Sky" is one of the band's most overtly politically toned songs, with live performances often being heavily critical of war and guns. The song was originally written about the United States' military intervention during the 1980s in the El Salvador Civil War. Bono told The Edge to "put El Salvador through an amplifier".-wiki

"One" is often used by the band to promote human rights or social justice causes, and the song lends its namesake to Bono's charitable organization, the ONE Campaign.

"A Change Is Gonna Come" is a 1964 single by Sam Cooke, written and first recorded in 1963. Though only a modest hit for Cooke in comparison with his previous singles, the song came to exemplify the sixties' Civil Rights Movement. The song has gained in popularity and critical acclaim in the decades since its release.

Cooke was greatly moved upon hearing Bob Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" in 1963 and in awe that such a poignant song about racism in America could come from someone who was not black. While on tour in May 1963, and after speaking with sit-in demonstrators in Durham, North Carolina following a concert, Cooke returned to his tour bus and wrote the first draft of what would become "A Change Is Gonna Come."-wiki

Abraham Martin & John -Marvin Gaye
Marvin laments the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, John Kennedy and although not mentioned in the title Bobby Kennedy as well. He makes the point they all freed a lot of people, but were all rewarded by dying before their time. A wonderful if rather repetitive tribute.
