I came this > < close to buying a Gibson some years back. Ended up with a Guild. And just imagine lugging those Swan Bells around from gig to gig.
According to Larry Geller, Elvis Presley's longtime friend and hairdresser - Vernon Presley and the doctor who delivered Elvis both witnessed a strange blue light in the sky over Tupelo Mississippi on Jan. 8, 1935, the night Elvis was born.
"Somebody once said to me that The Beatles were anti-materialistic. That's a huge myth. John and I literally used to sit down and say, 'Now let's write us a swimming pool.'" - Paul McCartney
Ha - great quote! 'Course they were pretty well renowned for kiddin' around too, but I can just picture it.
Staying with the Beatles... The Abbey Road LP cover has been the subject of many rumors since it was released in 1969. It also has been parodied by many. Supposedly, Paul died in a car crash in 1966 and this photo shows the four leaving a cemetery. John, in white - is representing the clergy. Ringo, in black - the undertaker. Paul, out of step, barefooted and smoking a coffin nail - represents the dearly departed. George, in work clothes - is the grave digger. The Volkswagen Beetle in the background bears the license plate 28-IF, how old Paul would have been at the time. Pretty interesting cover.
The back cover, if you connect the dots to the left of BEATLES is the number 3, but that's a bit of a stretch.
Decca records declined to sign the Beatles and, in fact, cancelled the audition for them which was booked to play in front of several Decca executives giving the reasoning, "guitar bands are on their way out."
But Decca wasn't alone, in fact, many other record companies in the US turned them down, including EMI, HMV, Pye and Columbia.
It seemed as though they weren't to be until Capitol Records saw the light, and the dollar signs, of the future Fab Four.
Square Peg Coolio never complained when he received his royalty check from proceeds of Weird Al's song

Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, founding members of the Allman Brothers Band, both died in motorcycle accidents approximately one year apart and only 3 blocks away from each other.
Black Country Woman is an acoustic song by Led Zeppelin recorded in the back garden of Mick Jagger's home, Stargrove, in 1972. At the beginning of the track engineer Eddie Kramer can be heard saying, "Shall we roll it Jimmy?" followed by, "Don't want to get that airplane on" a reference to an airplane heard flying overhead, to which Robert Plant says, "Nah leave it in."
Recording outdoors proved to be difficult. On one ocassion at Hedley Grange when Plant tried to go outside to sing the song he was attacked by a flock of wild geese.
