I didn't know Giorgio was on the tune. no wonder why i get euphoric when i hear it. there's something about about it that never gets old. and I'm a male and yes straight guys and I love this song and I AINT EMBARRASSED TO SAY SO!!
Why would anyone be embarrassed about the music they love? Anyone who would judge people like that... well their opinion isn't worth anything anyway. I was only 9 years old when that song came out and I still remember it. I remember a lot of songs from around that era, I think I was just becoming really aware of music that wasn't from inside my own home.
everyone is either into current music or rock classics that for some reason don't interest me so i feel at odds with everyone
i was 17 going on 18 when that song came out, i lived smack thru the middle of the disco era, but even then it was hard for me to get really into the current trend back then
now however everything in my collection is about the music i grew up on (1969-1983). i guess i'm a nostalgist at heart
R&B/soul that combines rock & roll. Like Stevie Wonder's Higher Ground, Ray Parkers The Other Woman, the Pointer Sister's late 70's albums, Donna SUmmers The Wanderer, the list goes on...
My aunts were around your age and I heard a lot of their music. In fact I lived with my youngest aunt in the late 80s early 90s and I used to go through all of her old 45s and listen to them. I thought they were great and most of them were from the disco era...could be why I ended up clubbing so much in the 90s...I caught the disco fever 2 decades too late.
the songs from Saturday Night Fever, Thank God It's Friday and the group Chic as well as Eurodisco style were the best disco had to offer. CHic put out a masterpiece in 1980 called Real People which moved more toward dance rock and Gloria Gaynor had a disco suite that combined Honey Bee Never Can Say Goodbye and Reach Out I'll be There all in one song, it was supposed to be one of the first club classics
I have heard all of those artists and I especially like Chic...just as a point of interest they were a major influence on my favourite band, Duran Duran. Their original manifesto was to combine disco, rock and punk. They deviated from that a little, I think, but they always kept those great bass lines that were directly influenced by Chic.
In the 90s, some of my favourite songs to dance to were reworked 70s classics. I don't think disco ever died and it had a huge influence that is still being felt in music.
the sported a gatefold cover with a picture on the inside that showed a 1976 Ford Galaxie with a bunch of dancers on the hood and roof, and a 1971 Dodge Coronet parked off to the right in the middle of a busy street
you aren't far chronologically (this is not a disco album however)
hint: when did New York New York first come out on the radio and become a hit?
