Country/Southern Gospel Writers? (music and lyrics, singing, cd, song)

I am a fledgling writer, having written about 10-13 songs so far. I would like to know if any of you would care to share anything about your successes and failures in writing; how you deal with writers block; inspirations; what instrument you use to write with; how long you have been writing and if any of you have had success in getting a break into the business. the only thing i know is make sure to go to library of congress and get the copyrights so no one can steal your music and lyrics i also write country gospel i have about 30 songs made one cd of original. but there is so much information out there no one will tell ya how to take steps a, b, c, of what to do so mine are still in my book. if you have any info i would appreciate i am tired of searching endlessly?????

I'm not sure if this thread is dead but What I've done is to follow a few groups that sing the style you write. Get to know them and submit your songs to them for critique. It's helped me to get a few groups to play my songs. Now I have a up and coming national group singing a song I wrote.
