PARIS (AP) - The official story goes like this: On the last night of Jim Morrison's life, the rocker went to a movie in Paris, listened to records, fell ill and died of heart failure in his bathtub at the age of 27. But rumors have always swirled around the death of The Doors frontman and, 36 years later, a former Paris nightclub manager is telling a different story.

yes, and there were also rumors that he never died, like Elvis...they said he simply wanted to get out of the limelight, start all over and apparently a person who signed the death certificate wasn't a doctor at all?

Also, after his death...he was seen at his bank in the U.S. withdrawing monies from his account...whatever...they said the same about Elvis?
Point is, he was a beautiful young man....so tragic...

I was hoping there was news that he might be alive, directing films under a pseudonym or sweeping streets or something . In the biography, No One Here Gets Out Alive, it pretty much states the same as the original post - that he was dumped in a bath tub, tough the names are a bit obscured in my memory. And, apparently, few people saw the body, which makes for great conspiracy!

I read a book, and I don't remember which one it was, but it was written by one of the two of his girlfriends, in the end of the book, she pretty much stated that new information would come out about Jim around the year 2000 or something to that effect...boy, it's a long time, since I read it and I don't remember...does any one know the book I'm referring to....?

I remember that book too, Square. According to the author, Morrison used prodigious amounts of drugs.
I remember seeing photos of Morrison taken shortly before he died.
He really looked different, and it was not just the beard. He had gained a lot of weight. He liked his beer.
This article has a few more facts, and some pictures
I remembering being surprised, but it was a bad time for rock stars, what with Hendrix and Janis Joplin--and those were just the big names. There were others.
