Still reeling and feeling wonderful from a magical weekend at Coachella.
Driving home through the Joshua Tree National Monument, my soul ascended. As I took in the sight of a desert forest charred from fire...the trees alive. Intact. Displaying blooms in defiance of their fiery past.

A car pulls up at a scenic overlook. I hopefully scanned the passengers as they exited the car. With excitement, I surveyed their wrists in hopes that they too were wearing their festival wristbands...and they were. I found myself in reverie from the collective experience we had taken in. We got to chatting about some of our favorite acts and gleefully bonded over a shared favorite. It was a short exchange, but I immediately pulled the CD from the car that we were totally engrossed in...passing it to the driver. I hoped that they would feel the same sense of reverie that I felt within my soul as they made their trek across the same landscape, letting the music in...
This is one of the more introspective and contemplative cuts from that CD....a brilliant mix compilation from Steiger....definitely contributed to the warmth within my soul.
Taking time lapse video of the road ahead....the landscape changed to barren salt flats...reflecting bright light across vast expanses. We explored broken structures trying to get our heads around why someone would choose this place to sell their wares and build a life. Upon the side of an abandoned building was an indiscernible phrase.
We came across a monument of broken sage, yucca and abandoned shoes that displayed dedications and messages....along with the fresh remnants of a green pinata...carefully constructed and it's color not yet washed out by our Sun's radiation....a piercing set of eyes and a crafty grin....greeting us as we took in the monument in its strange detail.
I wondered why anyone was here. Why here? At that moment....a piercing beauty overcame me....
