It might help if I/we have a sense of what you like now in those genres.

Here's a younger-gen jazz musician who I remember doing some things I liked.

Here's an older jazz musician that might be obscure enough that maybe you've not heard him.

Here's an Algerian/French musician, for world music, who I kind of like.

For Big Band, I'd recommend Basie and Ellington. For jazz I think old school is best, and I like the horns: Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Stan Getz are my favorites. If you want a jazz vocalist, I think the women did it best: Try Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughn.

Good point.

I've only very recently started "expanding my horizons" when it comes to music. I really, really love Philip Glass as well as Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jr., Enya and Celtic Woman. I also kind of like what little I've heard of Makossa inspired music.

If it helps any, my long time favorites are Pink Floyd, Post-Beatles John Lennon and Bob Dylan.

If anyone wants to point out some good dance music ala Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga I'm open.

My musical tastes are really all over the map.
