That was the all hair bands sound alike period...loud and fast.
They might have helped themselves if the lead guitars were more creative. The bass guitarists probably all learned from the same teacher. The lyrics weren't too great either...more relationship routines.
I followed punk and new wave.

Just found this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib5EE...eature=related

The groups he mentions were never my favorites. I prefered the Stooges, Velvet Underground, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys.

Hair rock was mainstream for those who thought they were rebelious. The bands were only in it for the money. Who can't write simpy lyrics about love gone good, love gone bad, etc etc etc? Hey baby, you're real hot!

This one reafirms what I thought for a long time. Hair rock and christian rock go hand in hand. Small wonder the lyrics suck.
Hair rock is anti-intellectual, It's for blue collar machos who are thankful they have high school diplomas and a steady job as plumbers or roofers. Their dream is to own a Pontiac Trans-Am or Camaro. He's the cool guy in the tight leather pants with that bleached blonde hanging on his arm. She sure is pretty, but her head is hollow.

I would like to add:

Gimmicky, Shallow, Laughable and Just plain Stupid.

(see below for example)

Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe, Hey, hey!

Love is like a bomb, baby, c'mon get it on
Livin' like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin' like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?
Razzle 'n' a dazzle 'n' a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss ah innocent sugar me, yeah

Hey!
C'mon, take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough

I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet, yeah

Listen! red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

You gotta squeeze a little, squeeze a little
Tease a little more
Easy operator come a knockin' on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little miss innocent sugar me, yeah, yeah
Give a little more

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough

I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah

[guitar solo]

You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
'cause I'm hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head, to my feet

Do you take sugar? one lump or two?

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Ooh
Pour some sugar on me
Yeah! Sugar me!

I do not consider Queensryche hair metal. The same with VH. I like Van Halen. Queensryche is a very good band also. They're just too prog rock for me.

Well, I can't say I really like the cheesy stuff either. However, many were rather good and still had the harda** attitude and sound. Eddie's guitar style become a gold standard for the ones who wanted to kick a** and take numbers. For that, I'll give all of "these" types a thumbs up. You also have to take in account that Eddie WOULDN'T be Eddie if all these other guys didn't try so hard to copy him. That made him a STAR and he still is even years after the guys copying him are long gone!

No, it wasn't; no, they didn't; and no, they couldn't.
