Sure there is lot of great rock intros/songs(From Led Zeppelin, ELO, Uriah heep etc.) but for me this has been one of those song what gives kicks years after years....its around 40 years old and its still pure rock.

I agree with at least one of the OP's choices: Go All the Way. That's iconic. It's got everything - just slams you on the first chord. Loud. Melodic. Exuberant. Pure rock n roll.

Gimme Shelter is great for a completely different reason. It kind of meanders until it becomes something semi-cohesive, then bam.

Some of the best intros are notably short (Lola). Some are long (We're An American Band, The Rover) but I don't think there's something to the idea that if you can name a song after the first one or two intro notes, you've probably got a pretty good song.
