I need to rip some audio CD into .wav or aiff formats (uncompressed and therefore not mp3) for therapeutic reasons. I haven't listened to a portable music player since back the Walkman days with cassettes. Yes, showing my age here. I find iPods a bit pricey, especially the iPod touch. Are there cheaper players out there with WAV or AIFF audio formats that still produce good quality sound? I realize it also depends on the ear/headphones you use.

Just go for the iPod Nano or iPod Shuffle. There are NO portable music players worth purchasing other than an iPod. NONE!!

A true music person doesn't even need the tunes on hand. You hear them in your head and in your sleep.

Default Here is one for you..

I have an IPOD..But I still primarily use a disc-man! Great sound, and I guess i am truly old school. I rarely see folks using these.

Works great with my 2000 + CD collection. Now if only I had a portable 8-trax machine......

My favorite autos they are right at home. They even make vintage cassette decks with hidden electronics and a port in the back for a CD changer hidden in the trunk. You can't have modern garb in pre-'75 STUFF now....no way!
