A songwriter is great, a singer is wonderful too. But a singer-songwriter is a bit more special.

No one impacted me more during the 70s than Joni Mitchell...and the awesome Leon Russell.

Any singer-songwriter make a lasting stamp on your life?

I agree with you Greatblueheron on Joni Mitchell. For my money, Hejira remains the most intimate and breathtakingly beautiful album released during the seventies bar none. Must not forget Van Morrison. The Belfast cowboy's contribution to music in the early seventies. Moondance and Tupelo Honey were particular favorites of mine during the time frame. Also Paul Simon is great.

I still have Paul Davis's Cool Night on LP. I know that was 1981, but his persona was that of the 70's singer/songwriters. Robbie DuPree and Steal Away is up their too.
