OK. The term Corporate/Arena Rock always has had a negative connotation to it. I was always more partial to punk and heavy metal back then myself. However, you cannot deny the success of some of the Corporate Rock albums of that time. I am listing 5 defining Corporate Rock Albums and be curious to see how you rank them.

1) Boston Debut (1976)
2) Styx Pieces of Eight (1978)
3) Journey Escape (1981)
4) Foreigner 4 (1981)
5) Toto IV (1982)
the Boston debut album would be on top of many lists for me, no fillers here great music from start to finish
Styx or Journey are kind of tied for 2nd but I would put about 30 albums between Boston and these two (using your time period).
I'd rate earlier Foreigner higher 4 was OK but it would come in 4th for me
How Van Halen, Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Ozzy and others get lumped into this category is beyond me. It's NOT the same and has a totally different attitude and sound. The list above has bits and pieces that are good, however, none are even close to the much harder, raw sound of the previously mentioned. Boston, Foreigner and "some" Journey are good. I don't like Styx at all. They are too soft for my tastes. I only know very little about Toto, so I can't comment. They seem to have a similar sound as Styx from what I remember.
Thanks for the input guys. Corporate Rock to me is the bands I mentioned. Arena Rock to me was the 70's 80's hard rock Heavy Metal acts like Zeppelin, Kiss,Ted Nugent, VH, Ozzy, AC/DC,Motley Crue,etc. I'm trying to focus on the bands that didn't have as hard of sound of "Arena Rock" bands. If someone wants to start an Arena Rock thread of that time period, I will happily participate. I'm sure it will get more responses too.LOL. Thanks.
I agree Foreigner 4 wasn't quite as "classic" as the Double Vision or Head Games albums. That is kind of my point. Corporate Rock was kind of TAME RADIO FRIENDLY albums. Foreigner 4 and the ballad "Waiting for a Girl Like You" was meant to attract EVERYONE. Arena Rock acts I mentioned catered towards the young.
I think Bark At The Moon was Ozzy's first mainsteam type album..

It was his 3rd best but had nothing on Blizzard and Diary IMO. I responded to a Randy Rhoads thread here a short time ago and reiterated that. I do like the Title Track and Slow Down in particular.

Boston was so meticulous it took them nearly a decade to release Third Stage.To me, Boston 2/Don't Look Back had two AWESOME tracks (Tile Track, Feelin' Satisfied) and a lot of junk. Certainly was a big letdown from Boston 1.
Pieces of Eight was my favorite Styx album personally...especially the underrated Queen of Spades song.
I happen to like Journey's Infinity album the best myself. I honestly haven't really heard any of the pre Steve Perry album's that others told me sounded like Santana and jazz fusion. Still haven't found the time to listen to them.LOL.
