This is the first album that I ever owned and I was in elementary school when I bought it.

Thanks, Thomas and Mrs. Lindo.

I remember listening to songs from the Sound of Music, on our old record player stereo...
I love this spontaneous public performance...

My dad used to play guitar & we'd dance on our back porch... to this song, among others...

I remember when I was in kindergarten, we use to have these little cots where we had to take a nap on. My teacher used to sing the song "Summertime" from the play "Porgy and Bess" to us.

I (my mom really) bought this LP in a newly opened midtown department store in 1977.
It is still their best.

Well here's a bit more. Again it might be an odd combination.

Dan Fogelberg - Leader of the Band - YouTube - One of the sweeter songs we listened to when I was a boy.

The Pod Dance - YouTube - I can't stand, but I did this thing where my little legs would be all kicking fast to songs like this. It was maybe a little scary, seeing my bones were quite brittle as a little boy, but fun.

Thanks for sharing, Makosa, Mrs. Lindo, BigSwede & Thomas!

BigSwede,
Isn't it the band, KISS who never smoked, did drugs or even drank alcohol?
It reminds me, "Don't judge a book by its cover!"

Another one I remember listening to as a child...
In this clip, Donny almost gets pulled into the crowd...

If you're my age, you were stunned at this out-of-the-left-field-bullpen instrumental hit in 1969 . . .

The Electric Indian, "Keem-O-Sabe"

Trivia: The Electric Indian was a group of studio musicians thrown together by erstwhile Swan Records co-founder Bernie Binnick (who co-wrote this number) and former blue-eyed soul hitmaker Len Barry ("1-2-3"); a number of the musicians on this side ended up becoming part of the Philadelphia International Records house band, MFSB . . .

Quite interesting, Whistler. I was very much into Boston AM radio in 1969 and just don't remember this number. However, if I had been blindfolded and given no information, just listening to the track I'd have said Philadelphia, mid 70s. I'm kinda tempted to say that, for me at least, this could be a missing link to the rise of disco. Well, done!
