What if any type of genius is never exposed? In the most bereft cirumstances, like the poor of Haiti, or India, are there geniuses who live and die without being discovered? I think, yes.
Oh yes!!! suppose the guy that invented the wheel had not used his genius? I am sure he lived in a cave or under a cliff.
Certainly someone else would have come along and figured it out, but civilization might be a few steps behind what it is today. (hmmm, maybe that wouldn't be so bad. LOL)
Of course there are...there's genious's that live and die having never had the chance to show their talents.....and there're genious's that die, having never had the chance to even be born.
I don't think there's ever been geniuses that have lived a full life and never been able to showcase their talents.
Of course there's certainly been many who've never had widespread acclaim, but I think it's likely that even those living in 3rd world shanty towns are acknowledged by their friends and neighbors.
Besides, what qualifies as a work of genius (especially, musical genius)? Is a massive classical opus necessarily more brilliant than a clever or exceptionally well sung song?
If the person truly had the potential to create or recreate music as we understand it, even the most remote and isolated person would hear birdsong, and repeat it to himself in his own mind, and try to reproduce it and even improvise on it. Or by manipulating objects, would recognize that some mechanical sounds are pleasing to the ear. And would make sounds rhythmically, according to the rhythm of normal body functions. How far he could run with all that would depend on the degree to which he is a "musical genius", and how much encouragement he got from other members of his social organization.
I think it's a good reminder for parents to expose their kids to a variety of experiences to discover their talents.
Studies indicate that earlier exposure to music helps develop pitch.
If someone has a talent for music - which would be a potential for happiness & increased accomplishment and self-esteem, it's worth search it out & discovering it.
Of course there are geniuses in music and many other fields who die, never knowing..Not only in poorer countries, also in the Western world. If you never have the opportunity to go to classes or you are never surrounded by others who appreciate your potential skills as a child, you may abandon interests. If parents don't acknowledge a kid's talents and think musical ability/voice is not something worth developing, what can you do?
