Nothing wrong with the family having a private service. It isn't for the public.

No they don't but it would have been nice to have a public service. Even a closed casket service.

You don't know her for goodness sake, should every famous person have a public funeral? Is that what you are seriously saying? This is deluded, and you call yourself a fan you don't even want her to be buried in private and in dignity among her loved ones you want it splashed all over the TV like the royal wedding or something for YOUR benifit, for YOUR so called grief. I am not saying you can't be sad of course you can I also felt sad about it, but to call her family selfish for not catering to your needs is astounding, this is absurd honestly.

You can grieve without personally seeing the service. You don't need a memorial given by her family. Like someone said above, maybe the fans will put together a memorial but we don't have a right to suggest they turn this family grieving for a lost daughter/sister/mother/aunt... into a circus.

It's incredibly selfish to say that they should turn this into a media event. Incredibly selfish.

And I say this as a huge fan who grew up on her music.

Nothings set in stone, there's still a chance for a public service after the private one.

totally disagree with the OP...I think it's selfish to claim another person as property...and what they did with MJ and the whole public memorial thing was wrong...It made everything look cheesy and showbizzy...

I get what you are saying but her body does not have to be present to have a memorial service for her. I think that a public memorial service may happen but we must be gracious enough as her fans to allow her family to say good-bye to Whitney in the manner which they see fit.

Yes the media had a right to intrude while she was alive because her life was public and she made money of the public, now she is dead the fans, excuse my bluntness, don't matter. It is up to the family and if they want a private burial and no memorial at all then why on earth wouldn't anyone, fan or not, except that. Carry on appreciating her music, have a watch of her movies but you have no right in the slightest to be involved in the end of her life IF the family wishes it to be that way. Now if the family decide to have a memorial service for the fans then fair dos.
