Back in the day, Journey got hammered all the way around, by rock critics
and guitar people who didnt like Schons very vocal bashing of the 'new'(?)

proving critics wrong(shocker that is !) and remaining better than any Pop

Mick Jaggar? What are you saying.....that he can sing? He cant sing to save his life. The Rolling Stones were one of the greatest rock bands of all time but Jaggars less then great voice was smothered by the great musicians around him. He could never sing a solo at a pitch any higher then Angie.

As for today's music I have 2:
I seen Meatloaf 5 times way back in 78 and 79. Sure he is great, not sure about the greatest. But ya know what? Despite the fact that he lost all that weight, he didn't lose anything in his voice. I love his voice and I love his music even though it was all written by Jim Stienman. A great team indeed.

I remember he used to sing his heart out and pass out on stage all the time. They woke him up with salt and he jumped up and finished the unfinished song. He would come out on stage with a 3 peice suit and bow tie and within one minuite was drenched in sweat. Him and Carla Devito, man was she hot in white tights, would battle it out on stage doing Paradise By The Dashbard Light making it like a real husband and wife fight. What a great showman. In the end he would take a rest by sitting on the edge of the stage and sing Two Out of Three Ain't Bad.

I will never forget it.

dude !!!
Wheres my car !?!?!?!?

The reason the 'Stones are so great is that no one can figure them out.
Keefs guitar is the sloppiest and couldnt keep time any better than a
chinese fauxlex knockoff from a hustler 5th Ave. Ronnie wood cant even
match the local garage band in playing skill as far as guitar goes. But there is
something, no one knows what it is, that makes them magic. Jagger has more
than a lot to do with that. Listen to any live clip you will on youtube or
an old album. Jaggers voice is up there with Sinatra. Perry is
not even in the same UNIVERSE as Jagger. really........

The '73 era Stones with Mick Taylor is the pinnicle of Rock n Roll.
There is nothing better, nothing even close.
Journey will be lumped in with Fouriner and Bad Company, but they
will never attain Stones, Led Zepplin, Kiss status

I have a better question. Who wins in a match between Steve Perry and a hurricane? And...the hurricane's name is Hurricane Perry.

That's a tough one.

Probably the hurricane.

I have not given up hope that Perry and Journey will reunite for one last album and a tv special or two to promote said albun. I'ts so possible and what all Journey fans want more than anything. It just goes against human nature for them not to while they are all still alive and kicking. Nobody writes the song better than Perry,Schon and Cain. Perry has stated that Schon is the musician that he liked working with the most and Schon has said that Perry brought success to the band. What a waste if they don't get together for another album.

I dont agree with you for a second. I would like to hear the feelings from those who I trust because they know what they are talking about. 6/3 and DoubleH where are you? Whataya think on this issue?

Yeah, at 50, a musician and guitar tech for touring band in the 80's,
I have no idea what Im talking about.....right.
Its all subjective, really. There are people who think Jay-Z is a musician or
Miley Cyrus is great too. If you like Journey, great, all's good ! But to even
think they are in the same league with the 'Stones or another band of that genre
is naive.

Props to Steve Perry and Journey for some legendary, timeless music. I was fortunate enough to catch the 1981 Escape tour and it was a great show. My favorite Journey song:
