Airplay - After The Love Is Gone [Airplay, 1980] AOR | Westcoast - YouTube

After The Love Is Gone - Earth Wind And Fire - YouTube

it gives me great pleasure to inform you that there was another version of this hit by an obscure band called Airplay that was basically a clone of Toto

did you know that Toto's hit "Roseanna" was actress Roseaanna Arquette, who was Toto drummer Steve Lukather's girlfriend at the time?

well which version do you like better?

EW&F, for sure. The arrangement is better, imo.

I did know that bit of trivia about Toto's "Roseanna." I was watching an interview with Steve Lukather when he told the story of his inspiration for the song. Dang, I'm old!!!

I like the EW+F version better , but its a closer call than I expected. The like the broader range of vocals as well as the bass and saxaphone in the EW&F version. The Airplay version is good, but its all in the higher range, and instrumentally its all synths, except for the guitar solo at the end.

I'm with you. Close, but EW&F gets my nod.
