Yeah, I miss him too domergurl. The whole thing was truly tragic, especially Paula dying not long after and all the things that have gone on with his daughter, Tiger and Sir Bob since.
I remember there was this boy in High School I really liked and he had his own little caravan/flat out the back of his parents place (which made him totally cool at the time! )and we used to throw The Swing into the cassette deck and loll about on his bed and listen (like thieves ) and maybe get a little mellow with herbal enhancement and consider the universe. We played it so often we killed the tape and had to get another copy. I loved them from the beginning right through but they lost a little lustre and I lost a little interest in them after they hit the big time and started breaking into the US and Europe.
There's always been a song here or there off each album since. I loved their cover of The Loved One from Kick but The Swing, well that album always brings back great memories.
The Original, by The Loved Ones, complete with voiceover from 3AK!
My favorite INXS song! I won a cassette of Shabooh Shoobah on the radio one dreary morning (I was able to identify the Raspberries' "I Wanna Be With You" all speeded up) and fell in love with the band the instant I popped it in the tape deck.
Nice work Ohiogirl!! I've never managed to win a radio comp! Takes skill!
I've always loved To Look At You, such an awesome song! The other one of theirs that I love but youtube doesn't have it is Johnson's Aeroplane. Fantastic song!
Oh and to stay on topic, here's a great Kiwi/Aussie band that had a MASSIVE hit here back in the early 80s. Phil Judd post Split Enz for him and Bones Hillman on bass PRE Midnight Oil.
