Any fans of reggaeton music here? Having lived in Miami for many years and in the Cuban community, I was exposed to a lot of reggaeton. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me. Now that I don't live among Latin people anymore (except my wife), I kind of miss it, although I wouldn't call myself a hardcore fan. These are some of my favourites, but feel free to post more current stuff as I no longer know what's hot anymore:

Don Omar-Dale Don Dale - YouTube

Angel y Khris, "Ven Bailalo (Reggaeton Version) - YouTube

Luny Tunes Mas Flow DVD Aventura Wisin Y Yandel - YouTube

Mayor Que Yo - Wisin & Yandel , Daddy Yankee, Baby Ranks , Looney Toons - Mas Flow 2 - YouTube

Daddy Yankee ft. Don Omar - Seguroski Gata Gangster - YouTube

Tego Calderon Ft Yandel -- La Calle Me Lo Pidio + letra - YouTube

(iPhone friendly).

Reggaeton is popular in all of Latin America, but not here in Brazil...

I think it's because of the language barrier.

I believe it has quite a strong following in Italy though. There are even a few Italian reggaeton artists I accidentally stumbled upon once on YouTube.

It's good, upbeat music. Sometimes I'll listen to it at work with headphones on as it helps me fight the tedium of the workplace. I wouldn't say I'm generally a fan though, but it makes for nice variety.

I hate "trash" reggaeton with its vulgar lyrics and sexual references (e.g. "Papi Perreo" by Lorna), but I have to admit that I like a lot of the newer stuff, which is much more "accessible" (appealing to more people) and most importantly MELODIC (I hate music that's just a beat). For example:

Daddy Yankee - La Despedida - YouTube

The main thing is the beat:

wayneandwax.com » dem bow legacies (riddim meth0d repost)

However, as with lots of other genres, when artists known for making reggaeton in the strictest sense then branch out and do other things, those other things often get called reggaeton as well. Or, at any rate, a "reggaeton" album might end up having other beats on it.

Lots of (bad, IMO) house from reggaeton stars in the last few years.
