I'd have to go with Marvin Gaye. Luther Vandross would be second. I'm thinking singers, though. Marvin and Luther were able to take the stage and light up the crowd with their vocals alone. They didn't need extensive dance moves (not that there is anything wrong with that). It's just when I think of "singers" I think of these kinds of performers. Chaka Khan and Anita Baker are the same wrt female performers. Their voices ARE the show.
