Now are you talking old style DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince Hip-Hop or "Lets see how many swear words we can have in a song talking about raping some woman and killing the cops" cRAP?

It is really Urban Bluegrass by the way, and Hillbillies had you beat by at least 100 years.

You can take a Music History class as one of your electives in college.

Any counter examples for my statement?
Well, as I have said before Hip-Hop is NOT music!
Does NOT contain the fundamental building blocks of what is music.
Any idiot can make beats from a keyboard in 10 seconds and talk into a mic.

I am a classically trained composer and that crap belongs on headphones only!
Rock and roll, Folk, pop, Jazz, R&B, country and classical. Now that is music.

Hip-hop could never compare itself to the music of the sixties generation, the generation that change the world. This is just a small sample.

Ptsum, I'm not bashing the 60's or anything (your links are great), but there are tons of great musicians out today. You may have to do some searching (avoiding commercial radio and channels like MTV), but it's all worth it.

@ptsum: The sixties was an extremely turbulent and innovative era of music. It heavily influenced basically every genre of music we hear today.

To everyone who dislikes hip-hop : Why are you guys bashing hip-hop so hard? You guys are saying ALL of hip-hop is trash. Can you at least agree the early 90's hip hop from some of the rappers was pretty nice?

LISTEN to this song and tell me what YOU THINK. Tell me how this song is empty and full of money, girls, sex, violence, and drugs? Tell me where is the nonsense in this song? I'm not saying all of hip-hop is lyrically and metaphoricaly amazing, HELL NO, majority of it is trash! But there is a VERY small percent of hip-hop that actually has a positive message. You just gotta look for it.

And for you guys who may say that "Well that was the 90's and this is 2012, your song irrelevant" here is something that was released of May 2012

Your link is broken, and Dear Mamma is from 1995, when for the most part Hip Hop was still okay.

Hip-hop's fine and all.

But nothing's better than a good old-fashion classical orchestration, which we haven't had in mainstream music since disco ended.
