I am flabbergasted by how many people, while listening to John Lennon's "Imagine", seem to take on a "happy daze" as if a shot of tranquilizer suddenly took effect. As a religious person, it really bugs me that "Imagine" is played at some religious services (I guess they must not be paying any attention to the lyrics "Imagine there's no heaven" and "No religion too"). Anyone else out there have trouble with the song?
I have no problem with the song. I do have a problem with people who are so stupid that they would use a song to back up their message, when the song is actually saying the opposite.
I heard they were playing "born in the USA" during this Summer olympics and I remember it being a part of the Reagan campaign back in the 80's. it's an anti establishment song.

I have no problem with Lennon putting his Atheism into the song. I have a problem with the song as a whole. It's a boring, droning, meandering song. I never liked it.
"Imagine" is the most hypocritical song ever recorded. And yes, it is sickening how folks have NO idea what is being said within the song (despite it being INCREDIBLY obvious), thus use it in the most surreal of circumstances.
