Aids origianlly had been associated only with the gay community until the appeareance of a young boy (10-11 years old) named Ryan White. White gained national attention when the parents and teachers picketed the school to have him expelled for having aids. White then became the national face of aids for every man, woman and child.

In this video Michael Jackson makes a plea, to then President elect Clinton, to apply more funding for aids research and sang the song he wrote in honor of Ryan White called, "Gone To Soon"

Robbie Robertson, former member of The Band, known for songs like "The Weight" (Take a load off Annie, take a load for free) and backed Bob Dylan on his first electric tour, wrote this song, "Fallen Angel" about band member Richard Manuel who committed suicide.

The Dance, Garth Brooks
Time of Your Life, Green Day (although the true title is Good Riddance. Awkward)
How Will I Live Without You, Trisha Yearwood
The Rose, Bette Midler
Tears in Heaven, Eric Clapton
Candle in the Wind, Circle of Life or Blessed, Elton John
Angels Among Us, Alabama
One Sweet Day, Mariah Carey
Go Rest High On That Mountain, Vince Gill (Gets me every time)
Kenny Loggins, Celebrate Me Home
Countless hymns

The most important thing is to try and choose the music that suits the person who died. Keep that in mind and you'll do just fine.

Are you choosing music for your own memorial?
