This one is so great, from the 60's. The very cool Miss Peggy Lee accompanied by just base and drums. And the drummer Jack Sperling lays down his sticks and plays his instrument with his hands and fingers Pay attention to his craft in this video
Another where the "rhythm section," base and drums get to feature in the tune. Drum solo begins at 4:00 but is really present and driving the whole song.
I always hear the drums in this Steve Miller Band tune. They're rather muddy and buried in the mix and I'd love to hear a new remix, but they still jump out at me. In the cycle of the tune I love the way they "turn the corner" between parts. I hope someone can understand what I'm saying
For the above tunes and these, they have a very hard hitting (dominate) beat and the drum is showcased in these songs I post. I also love the ticking noise you hear when they hit the bass/kicker! You can hear it ticking away as the song is played.
