I read Duff's book a few months ago. Towards the end of the book, he and Axl had a pretty gracious reunion at a Guns concert. Sounds to me like Axl is a pretty decent guy, but he gets derailed by his demons.
axl was great in his prime, but that was a LONG time ago. he has obviously not aged well.
some people say that it's the drugs, alcohol, etc., and maybe that's true. i don't know. i'm inclined to say it's the WAY he sings , which seems like it would be hard on your vocal cords.
scott weiland shouldn't even be in the discussion. he has always been mediocre.
That's my theory too. You can't be that great and go that hard for that long and not fall......
I often wonder what would be of Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Duane Allman, the original Lynyrd Skynyrd, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones, Buddy Holly, Elvis and the likes had they lived.
Sometimes it's better to fade away sudden right in the middle of things than to burn out years later. GNR is easily one of the worlds greatest bands of alltime. They sold more copies of AFD than any other artists debut albums. It set a world record....over 28 million copies and still counting....those figures are old ('08ish).
The part that isn't right is when people forget.......I'm sure some people who laughed at those performances like some sh***y new one hit wonder band and think they are the greatest.......ever!
People won't even remember the band's name, much less any of the members next year.... Try the whole world knowing each and every member some 20 years+ after you made it.
