As a long time Kamelot fan I was stricken by the news that Roy Khan had left the band. I simply didn't see how anyone could fill the void left by his departure.

When Kamelot announced Tommy Karevik as the new singer I went and listened to some of his work with Seventh Wonder and wasn't too impressed. I was also skeptical as he seemed little more then a Khan lookalike to me. When I received a link to their new video in my inbox I wasn't all that excited but I tamped down my skepticism and gave it a go and.....wow...

I was blown away. Tommy is amazing. The song is a return to the uptempo days of Epica and Black Halo and is outstanding. Tommy still strikes me as something of a Khan lookalike but he takes the song and makes it his. I have the new CD on order and can't wait for it to get here. I'm avoiding it on iTunes because I want the special edition set in my hands.

I saw Kamelot open for Nightwish last month, and they sounded great. The new singer had great stage presence and vocal ability.

I saw Nightwish with Floor Jansen, and it was a dream come true because she's a much better singer than Annette was.

Nice. Anette never did much for me. Ideally Tarja would come back but I doubt that will ever happen, given the bad blood between her and the others.
