With the advent of technologies like satellite radio, iPod, etc., that allow people to listen to a much more diverse variety of musical styles on a practical basis than was formerly possible with AM and FM radio technologies, why are most people still "stuck" on only the latest and greatest and/or most recent decade's style, of music? For example, with satellite radio, people can listen to virtually almost any genre they want or even of a specific decade, say 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000+. If a person only wants to listen to 80's music, s/he can change the station via satellite radio to a station devoted exclusively to 80's music. Granted, with the older AM and FM radio technologies, listeners were constrained to whatever radio stations happened to believe was worth playing, and many radio stations would phase out many, many popular older songs from their updated playlists, which was quite unfortunate, IMO, since it deprived the newer generations from having a realistic chance to experience certain songs that were very popular and huge hits, as far back as say 5-10 years previously.
