This folk-rock duo actually found greater success in the U.S. than they did in Britain. How about only one big charted hit in the UK? They also made appearances as themselves in an episode of the ABC-TV series, "Batman".

Default Weekend 3-Fers: Matt Monro

This crooner had two nicknames during his heyday. He was the "Singing Bus Driver" and "The Man With The Golden Voice". The latter prompted many to believe that that was reason enough to be a popular choice to sing numerous movie themes in the '60s.

Default Weekend 3-Fers: Billy J Kramer with The Dakotas

Sometimes, artists creatively come up with new ideas from a phone book. And that's the very thing this Merseybeat singer did when he cooked up his stage name for the music industry.

Default Weekend 3-Fers: The Who

One of the three most important acts in the British Invasion (the other two being The Beatles and The Rolling Stones), these guys from London established the auto-destructive repertoire by destroying drums and guitars onstage during their performances. Upon release of the set's second selection, they spent 1968 touring the U.S. extensively, leading up to "Tommy" the next year, which would be their first big bite at critical acclaim. That's my tribute to The British Invasion as I've taken a look back at our 50-year capsule. Have a great week, and see you next weekend!
