You won't believe the inspiration for the following song. It began when co-writer Wanda Mallette wanted to do a universal song expounding the thought of "looking for love in all the wrong places"......in front of her second grade group of kids. Oops! Here comes another country song. She and fellow writer Patti Ryan had sent their recording of the finished product to Bob Morrison, at the time, a prominent Nashville songwriter. He modified it and got it sent to Nashville, but nobody there wanted to record it. It then got into the hands of the folks at Paramount Pictures in lieu of a new movie being filmed. The song, along with others, arrived at the box of Johnny Lee. He ended up selecting this song to sing in a movie which we've come to know as "Urban Cowboy". And that's the story behind.....
When this song came out, it was originally thought that the content of the piece was about a divorce that took place between two of our following band's members. One of the singers says it's actually about the experience a person goes through during a divorce, but that it's also fiction. Many years later in Britain, this song was voted the number one break-up tune, as well as a favorite tune by this featured singing group.
