I was delighted to discover that Encore On Demand for Free has "Casino Royale", the dizzy, crazy, surrealistic, madcap James Bond spoof from the Sixties. It's totally insane=} Two hit pieces of music came from it: Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass' "Casino Royale" and the lovely, softly seductive "The Look of Love", sung by Dusty Springfield. Burt Bacharach wrote the lively score.
How could I not have come across this man before?! Sadly, he died in the early Eighties at the age of 33. I listen and buy a lot of folk/traditional music and know many obscure musicians. Yet, I never heard Stan Rogers! He was magnificent! I've been listening to these repeatedly! I truly am astonished by his voice, skill in singing and writing, and demeanor.
EDIT: Oh darn! Here I go, crying again! I guess that music is especially cathartic for me.
