Hmmm ... I've been playing Christmas songs on my piano and those chords look vaguely familiar ... I will check and get back to you!

I think there are plenty, though the two coming to mind right now are pretty obscure - "Hello" by Oasis and the end of Todd Rundgren's "Shine." The end of "Running Down A Dream" is C major -> D major -> E minor which is very similar.

The solo at the end of Stairway to Heaven is the reverse of that - A minor -> G major -> F major.

Hmm, it's an F Lydian progression. I can't think of a song "based" on it. Does it have to be in F? Are you sure there isn't one more chord?

F Lydian? I think of A as being the tonic, so it's in A natural minor. It would be VIb -> VIIb -> i.

That's sort of what I thought.

I'm watching this thread with some interest. It's like the old game, "Name That Tune."

Make a song up!
Out of curiosity, I picked up the (t)rusty strat and did some stuff with those chords and they are very easy to come up with something pleasant sounding The lil ditty I just made up involved arpeggiating the Am chord.
Dont mind if I steal it, do you?

Not at all.

I'll upload a video of me playing something with it and post it here so you can hear what I'm thinking of.

OK, here we go:

F G Am chord progression on the DJX - YouTube

Skip to 0:32 for the "meat"; otherwise you can hear a nice bass introduction.

Keep in mind that I have not seriously played in about ten years (and I was just a beginner then), and I don't know where my foot pedal is, so I had to take my hands off the bass a few times to make adjustments. I love the sound at the end, too.
