Does anyone listen to the sound tracks from Anime and Video games? The music from these mediums are quite good and well composed. People shouldn't overlook the music, as you find some really great masterpieces.

It's truly amazing the compositions that they've made for games. The Halo soundtracks are some of my favorites.

Final Fantasy 7 main boss battle with Sephiroth. Always loved the chants in that one. This is the orchestra version, not the one used in the game:

One of my favorites from the opening credits of Final Fantasy VI, also known as Final Fantasy III in the U.S. Amazing what Nobuo Uematsu did with the limitations of MIDI files:

If you're into 8-bit sounds, I always liked the main theme from an obscure game called Time Lord that one of my brother's friends played at the time, although I never played much of it myself:

Someone even took the trouble to upload the entire soundtrack to that game.

Great selections in this thread. I'm a big fan of Uematsu myself--I listen to the FF works on Spotify as often as I can when not actually playing the games...

In Post #5, I listed something from Time Lord (1990). The music for Time Lord was composed by David Wise. I didn't know this until I recently looked him up, but he later went on to compose the music for Donkey Kong Country in 1994. In looking at his catalogue, he worked on a lot of NES games that had good/memorable music, such as Wizards & Warriors/Ironsword, California Games, Snake Rattle 'n' Roll, and Battletoads.

Quote:
His career at Rare began when he happened to meet its two founders, as he explained in response to a question posted on its company website: "I was working in a music shop demonstrating a Yamaha CX5 Music Computer to a couple of people, Tim & Chris Stamper. I'd written and programmed the music for the demonstration material. They offered me a job."

There is nothing that compares to the intro theme to The Elder Scrolls III - Morrowind. It gets me excited to play the game again, gives me chills and gets me a little choked up at the same time. So epic!
