I see from the tour dates they`re playing Abertillery in May. By a very fortuitous coincidence it`s where my inlaws live..I better tell Mother to have the room ready..

I also like K T Tunstall, Paolo Nutini and Lilly Allen who have some recognition here in the states but not like in the UK.

I also like the Medieval Baebes which I don't think anyone has heard of here, another Virgin Records group.
BOYZONE: Sadly, Stephen Gately of this singing group was found dead in Spain on Saturaday Oct 10, 2009. He was 33.

Holy Haggis!!! Blew through 19 pages to not repeat....lots of great stuff...here is a few from me...

Jimmy Page...biology student turned musician/social anthropology.

YouTube - Jimmy Page 1957

Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps...not well known then in America.

YouTube - GENE VINCENT - RACE WITH THE DEVIL

Jeff Beck released Crazy Legs...a tribute to Gene Vincent...a must have

YouTube - Darrel Higham Feat. Jeff Beck Crazy Legs

XTC is another that comes to mind...they had an alter ego, The Dukes of Stratosphear...

YouTube - The Dukes of Stratosphear-What in the World

There was a sampler album from Antilles label, called The Greater Antilles Sampler (AX-7000).

On that album there was a band called The Grimms, formed of Bonzo Dog Band and Scaffold. The song by the Grimms is "Take it While You Can" from their album "Rockin Duck" (AN-7012). $50 US if you can even find it.

It's been a holy grail for me.

I love this topic........

Cockney Rebel. They did Art Rock stripped down to very straight forward singles like the clip below as well as beautifully arranged suites like Sebastian and Death Trip.

Blur. Except for that one hit the rest of their great career is unknown.

Pulp. They had a huge hit with Common People, one of the catchiest, funniest, and smartest songs of the 90s (see below). They were the 90s heirs to Bowie/Roxy Music with a little Scott Walker thrown in:

Sparks (not British but they were Anglophiles who made it there but not here). Masters of marrying pop on speed with opera and they did it before Queen did their version.
