What are your thoughts on Jim Croce? I absolutely love his stuff and I have listened to his stuff since I was a very young guy. I am 30 years old and my Dad used to listen to his stuff. I just love his life story, how we went to college, worked as a truck driver after and his dedication to his family, It is really sad how he died so unexpectedly but in my opinion, one of the most underrated yet brilliant American singer/composer of all times in my opinion. Beautiful songs!

I don't know anyone who doesn't like him. Very talented and great songs he left behind.

Talented songwriter and a sad loss.

The bad thing about it is he had only been on the charts for maybe a year and a half tops before he was killed. The Seventies was the decade of singer-songwriters; one wonders what might have been had he been able to carry on.

When my son was around 3yrs old [many moons ago] his party piece was singing Roller Derby Queen word for word.. Whenever he saw me near the deck I had to put it on before anything else or risk him screaming like a banshee!

I loved his image right down to the White Owl Perfecto.

The first I heard of Jim Croce was when You Don't Mess Around With Jim was a radio staple. I bought the album pretty early on. I was dating a young lady who was into Judy Collins and Gordon Lightfoot at the time and told her she might like this album. She didn't think so as she wasn't too crazy about his first single, also titled You Don't Mess Around With Jim. But she ended up loving it. It's rare when I get the pleasure of turning someone on to a new artist, but I'll always remember this one.

I posted this before, but in the 70's I went on a date to see Woody Allen as stand up,,Jim was the opening act. No one really knew him yet, but just he and another guitarist on stage kept the audience mesmerized. His act was the highlight. "Time in a Bottle" is one of the most beautiful songs ever. I kept my eye out to see if his son would follow in his footsteps.

My preferred genre of music is punk rock.

But I LOVE Jim Croce. "Time In A Bottle" is indeed one of the most beautiful songs ever written.

We used to sing "Time in a Bottle" and "Hey Tomorrow" in high school choir right after his tragic death.
