Lennon was quoted by several different rock magazines back in the day that George's 3 lp set was the best solo recording by any of the four. I agree!

Lennon was interviewed in late 1970 for Rolling Stone magazine,
eventually published as a book Lennon Remembers, he really liked
George's album which was released just ahead of his own Plastic Ono LP

I have it on glorious vinyl, I hate to admit it but I've never listened to
the 3rd jam session lp

A couple of the songs are either written by Bob Dylan (happy 71st birthday Bob) or co-written Harrison-Dylan. George hung out with Dylan in late fall 1968 when Dylan was recording Nashville Skyline, he enjoyed hanging out with Dylan so much that it was a drag for him to return to England to join the Beatles for Let It Be sessions (January 1969), he didn't like the tense atmosphere at Tickenham and quit, George had to be coaxed back, he brought Billy Preston with him and that eased the tension somewhat.
Actually alot of the songs on All Things Must Pass (including the title song) where jammed on by the Beatles during the Let It Be sessions. I have bootleg recordings. There are 100's of hours from those sessions out there. Amazing stuff like Paul teaching John bass on Let It Be (let's just say John is no great bass player) and the very controversial original version of Get Back (Don't Dig No Pakistanis), let's just say that one will never get an official release

You're right.

Critics back in 1971 didn't think highly of Paul's RAM album.
Remember, that's 1971 back when there were alot of excellent
albums, like Sticky Fingers, Aqualung, Who's Next, etc

In hindsight, RAM is now considered to be one of Paul's best albums!
It is almost up to Beatle quality.
After his previous homemade effort, RAM was much slicker,
with still abit of rough edges.
Some great, Beatle-like songs, like Uncle Albert and Backseat of My Car

The song where Paul's jabs at John is Three Legs.

John Lennon responded later that same year with, How Do You Sleep?
A very cutting song, perhaps alittle too harsh.

It was recorded in John Lennon's Mansion in england (Tittenhurst Park)
Lennon called it Ascot Studios, Phil Spector was producer,
George Harrison played guitar on it, I have video shot of
recording session, George looks alittle embarassed at the
lyrics but was not a Paul fan at that time either.
In early 1971 Paul took the other Beatles to court to
dissolve the Beatles partnership. That's where the friction
of the time stems from.

By the way, great thread, like the old days (2007-2008), youtube free...

I love almost every song on this album more than my favorite Beatles songs (some of which I also love very much).
I'm not here to argue with Beatles fans, just to say that Lennon was the latest/ and the greatest/ of them all. And this album is my proof.

Paul was always my favorite *shrugs* If I count the number of Beatles songs I like most, it was always him singing lead on them.

I like all four of them. What other bands split up with four members and go off to ALL do their own things. All four can sing too. I love them all but am posting this one because a certain poster is a thorn in my side right now. lol

The beatles is the only band to have all the members continue to be successful solo after a breakup.
Paul, john, george & ringo all had hits. My top 5 fav beatles albums prior to 1970 are a hard days night, rubber soul, revolver, magical mystery tour & the white album. Yellow submarine has 3 good songs on it esp hey bulldog which was never released as a single.

That's too young! John was even younger!

Excellent lonewolf

Live at Toronto Rock 'n Roll Revival festival Sept 13, 1969

I guy at work was at that show (lucky dog)
The Doors played too.

Alice Cooper played the Festival, they were almost unknowns
in 1969 (Yeah, Alice Cooper was a group until 1974)
Toronto Sept 13, 1969 put Alice Cooper on the map...
the infamous "chicken" incident.
A live chicken was thrown onstage, Alice didn't think it was real,
he threw it back and it was ripped apart by the frenzied crowd
Later the incident was twisted so much with rumors that Alice
bit the chicken's head off before throwing it back....

Anyway back to Lennon....Eric played lead guitar...
they played Yer Blues and Yoko introduced Cold Turkey
to the audience...."This is the newest song that John wrote..."
Then Yoko did her thing, screaming over feedback from
Lennon and Clapton's guitars
