Lemme guess . . . 20 something vinyl collector?
Don't play an instrument yourself?
I thought so
You'd be wrong about both. So wrong I even have a #1 of my own. There's pics of it on here with the serial number. Course you can see that small print from a pic off the net and all.
Two Gibson USA Les Pauls sit in another thread. Guess what...that ain't all.......
I'm actually not the judge since guitars weren't my favorite musical instrument to listen to(more drums for me). But I heard someone say that Hendrix was way above the other greats. Is it true or was that just beer talk that I heard. Seriously the man had been drinking fairly heavy who said that.
Tough to say because people's tastes in music and those of us who are guitarists (started playing in 7th grade myself) have an appreciation not only of those who played great from the soul, but also great based on music theory and application.
My personal favorite guitar player is Stevie Ray Vaughn. After that, its sort of a hodge podge of greats like Satriani, Van Halen, Jesse Johnson, Eddie Hazel, Steve Vai, Hendrix. And Roy Clark was the most amazing I have ever seen on banjo.
Forgot to clarify that Billy bought that custom guitar ^^^ used in Couldn't Stand The Weather for Stevie as a gift. I assumed everyone knew that, just wanted to clarify.
Since you didn't specify rock guitarist the answer is no. Not by a long shot.
Most consider Andres Segovia to be the best guitar player to ever have lived. He died at 95 in 87'
He had to have been in his 80's when this was recorded. Can you imagine what his playing was like when he was younger?
This is the guy Jimi Hendrix said was the best guitar player he'd ever seen. Bravo for this vid.
