So these days, I'm obsessed with all things Allman. I've been listening and trying to differentiate between Duane Allman's and Dickey Betts' guitar parts. I know Duane is more blues-influenced while Dickey is more country-influenced. I've read that Duane's parts are through the left speaker and Dickey's are through the right. I've been watching YouTube to see who is playing what and that's been helpful.

Any surefire ways to tell the two apart?

Surefire? No, but I find Dickey's tone to be a bit thinner and more trebly than Duane's. Also, if it's slide, it's Duane, although sometimes Duane played without the slide, so that's not a dead giveaway.
