For me it's a fight between Zenyatta and Ghost. Today I'll pick Ghost, thanks to Invisible Sun and Stew's awesome drumming throughout the record.
Synchronicity would be my third favorite. The first two albums have great highlights but I don't like the album tracks as much.
It's been fun discovering their albums again. They're definitely a band whose music has multiple layers to it, and the songs have lots of cool details you can find even when you've heard the songs many times.

I'd say it's a toss-up between Ghost In The Machine and Synchronicity.
With the Police, you can really seem the band progressing from simply coming up with great hooks to really building complete songs around them. Every album has their clunkers, but at least they moved away from the silly trifles as time passed.
Off Ghost In The Machine, Invisible Sun and Spirits In The Material World are shimmering and unusual songs, stark in their beauty. Before that, they'd never really put together that sort of subtle artistry before.
On Synchronicity, they achieved new heights in consistency. Everything between the two tracks titled Synchronicity I & II (or, for you pre-CD folks, everything on side one except the first and last tracks) is a bit of a throwaway, though they're interesting. Every other track - with the possible exception of Sting's pretension getting the better of him yet again on Murder By Numbers - is excellent.
Every Breath You Take suffers a bit from the combination of simplicity (though perfect, there's just not that much there to chew on) and three decades of absolutely massive over-exposure. The other singles are great examples of lyric-writing that refuses to be dumbed-down, married to tuneful beauty.
And Tea In The Sahara always make me want to go back and read Bowles' The Sheltering Sky again...
I love Ghost in the Machine, just because it's different from what they'd done before.
Side 2 of Synchronicity comes in second. I remember driving around listening to "Wrapped Around Your Finger" over and over again on my brand new cassette deck in my brand new car.
Regatta De Blanc for me too, it's probably their most consistent, and it contains my favourite song by them, Bring on the Night. One of the first albums I ever owned when I was a six year old!
