If you could only listen to 1 of these, which would you choose?

The Beatles were before my time and I never bought into the genius reputation that my elders gave to them. Stuff from their contemporaries at Motown and Stax, CTI jazz and others hold much more interest to me. In Hip-Hop's early days they did a lot of sampling from the music of my generation

Definitely Beatles for me. their discography represents the span of one of the most creative eras of popular music: 1963-1970. They were the uncontested leader of this era, helping to direct the sound into new directions. The change in their sound is amazing, given how different they sounded year after year, yet always having that very recognizable Beatles sound to it. Here's a brief sample: from 1963, early '65, late'65 and 1966.

Hip hop can be great, but it's mostly garbage.

While the Beatles are part of the baby boomer propaganda machine they are clearly better than rap.

Hip Hop, just because there's more to choose from. There's plenty of good hip hop too, if you look at the '80s and '90s.

Really good, and it's from 1995.
