Im the errand runner so I am in stores every weekend. These are some odd songs I heard the past few years in department or food stores, definately not your typical store music:

Bruce Springsteen - Tenth Avenue Freeze Out
Elvis Costello - Veronica
Violent Femmes - Gone Daddy Gone
Neon Trees - Animal
Bon Jovi - Born to be My Baby

And just the other day in Home Depot, Leon Russell - Tightrope. Made me smile this one did...

The latest song I hear everywhere is....Viva La Vida by Coldplay. Seriously, I heard it in 2 stores, a restaurant, and while on hold last week.

I'm pretty sure this one only gets played in elevators and department stores these days---although I play it every once in awhile.

One local restaurant we frequent plays Muzak, which is kinda rare these days. And, this song played while we were there a few days ago.

I hear Heart of Glass by Blondie all the times in stores but rarely on the stations I listen to on the radio these days.. I think I've heard that song for the first time when I was really little (80s)..

Today I went to a small restaurant for lunch. As I sat down, on the music system I heard a tune that was very familiar to me, but one I never thought I'd hear in this setting - Watching The Detectives by Elvis Costello. After this they played more typical stuff like Blood Sweat and Tears, The Carpenters....and then Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime. I want this station on my car radio.

Last Monday I went to walgreens to get some meds. I noticed a song playing on the music system that kind of annoys me, this one.....

Yesterday I had to go back to the same Walgreens for my wifes meds. Guess what song was playing...
