The thing that shook me to the core was watching Carole King (who richly deserves the Kennedy Award and her own thread) watching Aretha.

What joy!

You could see the amazement in Carole's face when Aretha hit those beautiful piano chords in the intro and when she flawlessly opened that first stanza!
